Simpsons v Futurama

I've got a simple point to make.

I've seen Matt Groening say that the Simpsons was meant to be the cartoon with feeling where you would care about the characters. But how can you care about Homer becoming a missionary? Or Homer taking Mr Burns' boat out?

My second point is that Futurama has become what the Simpsons should be, and sometimes was in the earlier seasons.

Well, that's all i got to say.

comparing the simpsons to futurama is nonsensical. while futurama proves to be more original and overall better than most tv, the jokes mostly fall flat and in no way compare to the hilarity of the simpsons. to say that the simpsons gears towards an audience that watches south park is retarded. if anything the simpsons heads the other way by being more thoughtful and not begging for laughs through swear words.

As Nicholas pointed out, if this were a few years ago most people would agree that the Simpsons was the best cartoon, arguably the best programme. But recently we're saying it's become crap. It's not thoughtful at all really. It begs for laughs by being stupid.

Maybe it's just what i like, but i don't think Futurama falls flat. I find myself laughing out loud every single episode.

as much as i love the simpsons, futurama currently is just better.

Yeah, to me, the first seasons of both shows have a similar feeling. They're not a laughing riot, but yet very entertaining and interesting, clearly moreso than the Simpsons beyond season 8.

As it stands, I find Futurama to be the funnier of the two. If this were 1995, I might be saying differently.

The thing about Futurama is that it's like "Treehouse of Horror" episodes of OFF, whereas it is taken out of reality. Futurama goes places where the Simpsons can't.

Futurama kinda reminds me of MG's "Life in Hell".

The Simpsons is still better though (even the new episodes. And anyway, why are you Simpsons "fans" bashing it? I find that the episodes now are slowly getting better than season 11 and early 12).
