Where is Springfield?

That question has been raging on and on. First of all our life doesnt depend on where springfield is. I think its a parody of not small but not overly huge town. You have the mean boss that everyone has to kiss up to, you have a newsncaster who is off his hinges, you got weird radio hosts, you have lazy police officers etc.

Remember in "Trash of the Titans" when the whole city was moved 5 miles? It might have been 5 miles into another state. Since we don't know when this episode takes place (in relation to all other episodes) whether it be January, April, or December of whichever-year-they're-in, this nullifies all previous and future clues and therefore makes everything void.

I think its somewhere in the Northeast of the USA. We know its near an ocean (the many beach and/or boat oriented episodes) and New York City is a relatively cheap and convenient bus ride away. Many people think its in the South, but (1) hardly anyone has a Southern accent, and (2) the colonel who fights a duel with Homer is called "Southern" by Homer and other characters---i.e. they recognise him as coming from a **different** region & subculture than themselves..

Ahh, you all forget that at the end of 'Behind the Laughter' it was mentioned that the Simpsons were a "North Kentucky family..." I'll take this as canon, though I'm sure most nobody else will.
