Early start? Late end?

I have to set TIVO to a minute or two early because the Simpson's has been starting at 7:58 and ending at 8:31. This causes me to miss the opening and the ending. Why is FOX doing this?

Maybe they're shoving in more ads, they've already stolen like 5mins from the simpsons episodes.

Probaly for the same reason that ABC, CBS, and NBC do it on occasion - so that when you try to record The Simpsons, you can't record anything on a different channel that ends at 8:00 (so you have to watch Malcolm in the Middle) or starts at 8:30 (so you have to watch Arrested Development). All TV shows are starting to do this especially with Lost and Alias on ABC. Start recording five minutes early and later if you can.
