My Opinons on Simpson negativity

I've been reading alot of posts saying how the Simpsons arent funny anymore, and how it should be canceled, and that all the episodes dont have anything funny at all in them.

I suppose you can look at it that way, if you only focus on the negative stuff. Yeah, "Large Marge" was bad. But IMHO, I didnt think "Helter Shelter" was as bad as some made it out to be. I mean some of the reviews,

"Nothing funny at all in it." "Worst Episode Ever" "I sent Matt Groening a letter bomb" "It was so bad it made me vomit blood."

I really think the only way you could think that Helter Shelter was the "Worst Episode Ever" (a phrase given to every new episode, and probably ever old episode at some point in time, since the phrase was coined) is if you sat by, bitterly watching it, muttering "Lionel Hutz would have made this better..." nitpicking about every joke that doesnt strike you as histerical, instead of enjoying the good jokes.

"Large Marge" had its moments but certainly wasnt golden. And im not sure of the title, "Bart vs. Lisa vs. The Third Grade" Or something to that effect. It looked like it was going to suck, but i really didnt think it did. Again, it wasnt the best episode ever, but it was hardly as bad as people said it was.

I mean, thank god you didnt scrutinize the first 2 seasons this way, or the show never would have survived!

Could you imagine the posts if this was Season 1?

"Too much Bart" "Another episode where Homer Burps" "Worst Episode Ever... what an odd thing to say seeing that this phrase hasnt been coined yet"

All im saying is, i think some people are being WAY to hard on the new episodes and romanticizing the older ones a bit. Is the show as funny as it once was? No, of course not. Are they still enjoyable? I personally think so. Do i think the show has much longer to go? I honestly dont know. Do i think that my post is going to change ANYONE's minds? Of course not, I'm not brain damaged, I KNOW that this wont sway anyone's minds, but thats fine, everyone has thier own opinion, I just wanted to put up mine and see if anyone agrees.

I agree with the first poster to the extent that I think some people do go into every episode expecting it to suck. You can sometimes tell if something is going to suck from the premise (for instance, there is no way in hell they could've made a good episode out of Marge getting implants, even in the old days), but some people do seem to lack any open mindedness at all.

really? you enjoy seasons 9-12 more than seasons 1-7?
