Question for Canadians...

Am I the only one who's ever asked why Showcase doesn't air the simpsons?

Yes, at first glance.. American prime time cartoons are pretty far from the norm for a network that airs surplus CBC programming, endless foreign films, and great australian and British programming...

But I still think the Simpsons would be at home with the rest of the programming... run it back to back with This Hour Has 22 minutes...

It's not even as if Showcase can pretend to be a high-brow channel... they *out right bought* the rights to "Bubbles Galore" for god's sake! (Note: If you're American, or if you're a Canadian who hasn't heard of this movie, don't ask, you're better off not knowing what it is)

I liked Bubbles Galore. Good use of my taxes. As for Showcase, I think with Teletoon already airing the show as well as many other networks that base is already well covered. Now if it aired Futurama....

The Comedy Network in Canada has the rights to The Simpsons on cable for now. They're not a great network, but it will have to do.

Showcase used to air The Simpsons shorts a couple of years ago, they stopped so there is absolutely nothing good to watch on that network now.

"Trailer Park Boys" is far and away the best Canadian comedy produced since "Kids in the Hall". If you haven't seen it yet, for God's sake watch it this Sunday night at 9:00 ET on Showcase. If you don't have Showcase, then do a search for "Trailer Park Boys" on Kazaa and download an episode or two.

Agreed. The only thing I don't like about TPB is that there aren't enough damn episodes :) I've seen them all probably a half dozen times each.... not that I'm complaining though, because each is so good.

I'm hoping for a DVD boxed set eventually.....

nope. you're not allowed to have THAT opinion. The canadian version of Showtime plays my favourite show. One i like more than the simpsons even.

Some similar content, Show Case shows a lot of stuff that's Canadian only... a lot of surplus CBC stuff, Show Case original series' (Trailer Park Boys is one), and some weird messed up Canadian movies, and some normal Canadian movies.
