$Ky cuts to 'The Sweetest Apu' - WHY?!?

Tonights cuts....

- during the civil war re-enactment, when Moe is beating a guy and saying "hit with stick! hit with stick!" he then adds "...ya bastard!" before Hibbert and the horse ride away.

- When Apu is seeing what his next lives will be (tapeworm and assistant to some guy), he says "oh... it's going to be a rough couple of lifetimes" before Manjula comes in and stops him from hanging himself.

WTF?!?! The noose was clearly present the entire time, why cut the above just because he put his head through during it?!?!?

I can't remember, but the bit where he was setting up the noose and saying "over, under, round and round, so your feet won't touch the ground," might not have been in the $KY version, but only YOU know for sure... because I didn't tape it.

Following-up my own post, but is much cut from Family Guy at 5.30pm?

There was one line left in, since it's not that obvious if you've not heard of it, where Lois wanted Glenn to look after the children while she and Peter went away on an emergency.

He replied "Well, in accordance with Megan's Law, I'm obligated to inform you... er.. that's fine, I'll take the kids."

Since the meeja wanted a "Sarah's Law" after Sarah Payne's death, it doesn't take a genius to work out the connection. Add to that, Glenn's "oral sex" doorbell. Perhaps Family Guy's just goes for the jugular in a different way that doesn't get sensed by Sky's drones, other than if Peter says "Bastard".

For your own reference, most of the episodes this season have aired without anything cut from them, the two exceptions (thus far) being tonight's and 'I Am Furious Yellow.' Which is pretty good considering that over time, The Simpsons gets more lewd yet $ky cut less out.

Last season (12) was pretty scissors free as well, the only thing I remember offhand missing was Brockman's "thanks Mayor Simpson! We'll all be taking golden showers thanks to you now! *crew in the background chuckle*"

I still don't understand why they cut Marge's diaphram scene in 'Behind The Laughter' though, or the second set of "when we return,. Homer does <blank>" - perhaps because there was only one ad break over here. But they left them in for the 138th ep special... sigh.

Has anyone every complained and got any kind of answer as to why they make pointless edits like this? I can remember right be to season 2 of The X-Files, I taped them all and when they came round on the BBC, there were little lines cut from the Sky broadcast like "He tricks you".

The only time I've complained about edits is on WWE shows... to which Sky replies "we don't make them, the WWE do them for us".

Is it possible that the US networks don't understand that the ITC rules for satellite broadcasting are more relaxed than for terrestrial, and are editing the shows to suit the likes of BBC C4 and C5?

Actually, though I hate to come to $KY's defense, this is true. The UK versions are the same as air in Canada I believe (removal of violence to 'helpless' women and foreign object shots in the early-airing versions).

In the case of $KY, it's all their own handiwork, how else could they air censored footage within their own adverts (but not the ep itself)? Or restore some episodes a few years later (leaving others from the same season cut to buggery)?
