I forget the name of the episode but it was the one where Homer has a nervous breakdown, they get away to Florida and it turns out it is Srping Break and Homer goes from crazy to ca-razy! Homer sings that old Starship song (after chugging the forty gallon meant for the brothers who couldn't make it to the party) on stage after he steals it from Kid Rock and Joe-C and later on the fan-boat before he hits Captain Jack.

Homer: Guess how many boobs I saw, Marge? Fifteen!

I was 13 when this song became a hit, and I had never heard of Jefferson Airplane. I can't imagine just how badly old-time fans reacted to that song. I'd compare it to Janis Joplin releasing a disco album had she lived a little longer.

And VH1.

Here's the scary thing: I _like_ many of the songs on that Blender "worst of" list, including "we built this city..."

Me too. The list was far too 1980's heavy, and in one dramatic example, politically motivated. The list should be called "The 40 Most Unpopular Songs At The Time This List Was Compiled". I like(d) Wang Chung, Mr. Mister and, admit it, so did all of you.

Yeah, I have thought that myself especially after listening to the great stuff they did as Jefferson Airplane like "Surrealistic Pillow" from 1967. IMHO, one of the best rock albums ever created.

I always liked the song, "Sarah" from that album (Knee Deep in the Hoopla, I think), though.

Yup. It demonstrated that if you're going to make music, drop acid, don't snort cocaine. IIRC, Slick said in VH1's "Behind the Lau, er Music" that she was so high/drunk at the time, she doesn't even remember filming the video to this song.
