Burns Verkaufen der Kraftwerk

Is it "safe enough" or "safen up"? I have always thought it the former, but a lot of people think it the latter. Which is right? I know closed captioning makes mistakes, and snpp.com has been known to as well.

It's something like. "You there, be more safe! And you, ... safen up!"

Given the context, I'm going with "Safen up!" Sounds like something Homer would make up. "Safe enough" just doesn't have the comedy punch.

I'll leave it to others in the group to go home to their DVDs and loop it 300 times.

My vote is for "safe enough" for the following three reasons:

1. The tone of Homer's voice and his hand gesture fit better with "safe enough".

2. "Safe enough" contrasts with what he had just said: "stop being so unsafe".

3. "Safe enough" demonstrates along with "stop being so unsafe" to the new owners that Homer knows both what is safe and what is not safe.

I could be mistaken of course, but these are my arguments.

Those are exactly my reasons, but I think even though "safe enough" makes more sense to me (and is what I heard), the Simpsons Archive and the closed captioning say "safen up," as well as most fans I've asked. I rewatched that part of the episode and now I'm not sure if I hear "safen up" now, or if it's like when Picard actually thought he saw five lights.
