Gump Roast Review

(My first post here since 2000)

Hello all, as I said above, I haven't been around here in a while, mainly because during the 1999-2000 season 2 years ago, I discovered Whose Line is it Anyway on ABC, and became a big fan, so I've been lurking around WL messageboards since 2000, as it's been a favorite show since. Possibly because the 1999-2000 season of The Simpsons was so crappy.

This was a good clip show, the first we've seen since perhaps Behind the Laughter. Some of the clips reminded me of the good old days. This could be the best of the season for me. I love me a compilation show. Also I noticed many of the clips were from the 19998-1999 and 1999-2000 seasons. I wonder why. Another thing I noticed was it seems they sneaked a deleted scene from season 10's "Homer to the Max" when he pours coffee over the workstation and everyone laughs and tells him to do something stupid, it didnt seem familair. All in all this was a good show and was definetly rewatchable.

No, that scene was definitely in the episode. Maybe it was cut in syndication? I don't know.

IIRC, that was a pot of fondue, and it was in the episode. However, I don't recall the scene where he is looking at his nameplate and singing a James Bond themesong-style Max Power song. Maybe that was a deleted scene?

you're right, it was a fondue pot. but the singing was in the original episode, and i saw it in syndication last month around here (midwest) so it wasn't cut.

I'm sorry that you only discovered Whose Line is it Anyway with the advent of the american, drew carey version. The british version was much better, they did a wider variety of games and they had more of a rotating cast of regulars instead of three regulars and one "other" like drew's version does. The only redeeming quality of drew's version is that the best american comedians that appeared on the british version are now on drew's version. Sadly though, the fact that they all started doing drew's version instead of the british version caused the british version to call it quits. I think they still show the british one on comedy central.

Indeed the UK version is still on Comedy Central, and multiple times a day. I much prefer ABC Whose Line over the UK Whose Line. More American, more easy to follow the humor. Don't get me wrong though< Clive Anderson is cool and the guys were just as funny on the UK shows, especially Tony Slattery, but ABC Whose Line is so much better quality.

Better quality because it's more heavily edited which defeats the purpose of improv all together. But to each his own I suppose.

I have to agree with you on the heavily edited statement. Whenever I read the taping reports posted from taping attendees, the ever so popular Hoedowns are always done 2 or 3 times in a taping, and Scenes from a Hat literally runs until all the 4 performers have no more ideas left. And there's so many Hats/Props/Hoedowns we've done in the past 4 DL seasons that we may never see. BasicaLLY on Whose Line, we are seeing the best and funniest games done from the taping. -Ned Farley
