The following is my observations from the show, and I will also include outside factors such as food and stuff for all my reviews this season (or I will try to, don't hold me to this). There will be nothing fancy in here like production code, individual segment / episode name, just what I remember from the show. Remember, the point of this post was that I only watched it once, and slept on it, and wrote a review the following afternoon, to see what sinks in. The more that sinks in, the better the episode. Got it? lets go.
Mood: Very angry due to the result of the football action earlier in the day. Food: Fritos, banana, Ravin' Red Sprecher root beer or something. Time: 7:02 DAMMIT I MISSED THE COUCH SCENE! CAN MY DAY GET ANY WORSE!?
Homer takes some cash money to the horse track, wins big on "can't lose" and gets a dish for better tv. I noticed he discussed this with Flanders, and Flanders is interested in watching the religious channel. But didn't Flanders have all the 900 some channels on his tv, and they are all blocked out? Comic book guy: excuse me, but didn't the Simpsons already have cable, once producing hilarious results? Anywho, Bart and Homer become couch potatoes watching tv (more so, apparently). I thought the NBC news feed joke was good, and vomit jokes always make me laugh. The clock channel joke was great, even predicable but laughing until near choking is good. Somehow, through out all this chaos, Bart gets moved backwards to 3rd grade, and Lisa goes up to 3rd. Let the laughs begin! Bart knowing all of the info in the 3rd grade class got stall, and knowing Bart, he probably passed by the skin of his teeth the first time, so I was suprised that he had a working knowledge of 3rd grade material. Oh, and no flintstones phone. Wassup with that? They go on a field trip, the punch buggy wars begin. Bart ruins flag project, Lisa gets mad. Later, due to a complete failure in the buddy system, Bart and Lisa are stranded in Capital City (where a bum feels like a king and a king feels like some type of nutty coo-coo super king). Rescued by hicks, returned to springfield. Lisa and Bart go back to respective grades. Overall: Good beginning, quick ending, nice to see a Bart and Lisa show, although I liked like the potential of Maggie trying to assume the roles of both Bart and Lisa (with skateboard and Saxa-mo-phone). final grade: B
