Anyone have a list of the 1980s music in last night's episode? I recognised them all, but right now I can only remember Bizarre Love Triangle by New Order.
By the way, why would a high school prom 8 years from "now" have 1980s music?

I'm guessing it was a spoof of the Teen-dream flicks of the 1980's. Many of the Corey's/Batemen's/Ringwald flicks had prom scenes, complete with hip and happenin 80's music. The writers just figured all proms must sound like that.

Better explanation: the 30/40-year-old Simpsons writers were illogically imposing their love of 80s music into the episode. If anything, in 2013, the characters should have been nostalgic for 1990s music (e.g. Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, etc.)

Not necessarily - loads of people still listen to 60s/70s cmusic today, so it only makes sense that people would still listen to 80s music in 2013....it is only 8 years away....hell, lots of people will still be listening to 70s music!
The Song "Crush (1980 Me) is a salute to the decade
The producers sure missed out on a great song when they didn't use that song.
I sure hope someone got fired for that blunder
