It's the North American postal abbreviation for Northwest Territories. Although it doesn't look like Springfield in northern Canada.

NT stands for North Takoma. Director David Silverman has been quoted as saying that the fictitious North Takoma is where the Simpsons are from. Someone must have included it in the episode as a joke, someone I would assume is from Kalamazoo, Michigan.
