As a new fan of The Simpsons (OFF was "off-limits" in my household for most of my young childhood), I am rather disappointed with a recent development in light of the legacy established by the early episodes which I have now had the privilege of viewing. Case in point: in DABF14 "The Sweetest Apu" a brief extension of Homer's ladder moving backward accompanied by that eerie music carried over into the Executive Producers credits. This can be seen again in DABF05 "Jaws Wired Shut" with some feel-good flutey Simpsons theme music spilling over into that same area of the credits. I for one feel mildly offended by this seeming lip service to an honored and cherished tradition of the show: the unexpected gag in the ending credits or during the Gracie Films coda (i.e. Homer screaming "Cobras!" in CABF21 "The Blunder Years"; so unexpected, and so funny). The writers should bring back this signature aspect of The Simpsons that has been one of its most original contributions to modern television.
Ending credits
Music usually does accompany the executive producer credits, and has nothing to do with anything happening 40 seconds later (or more like 15 now, thank you very much split screen...) - actually, I thought those extra bits during the Gracie Films logo didn't start until recently, but I see the first variation occurred in TOH II (www.snpp.com/guides/altcredits.html) - and the first "instant sound bite" (the name I just gave to a quote _from the episode_ instead of something new, so it's like someone made a wav file already) happened in Sunday, Cruddy Sunday (as far as I can tell from the list...the rest were all extra vocals, but "Silence!" was from the episode). Anyway, I'm getting off track here...unless your station somehow goes right from exec producer to gracie films you don't have a problem. (By the way, I was also the victim of an anti-OFF policy in my house...then when I got to college I managed to see every episode in the space of 3 months! How about that)

Ah, you're right. I forgot that Carl said that to him...so when I saw it in the list, I must have figured he was talking to the audience only. (Interestingly, I did recognize "silence!" as being from an ep, which is pretty much the same thing!)
