REVIEW: B-plus - the first two acts was some of the best stuff I've
        seen from the show in a while, but the whole third act brought
        the whole show crashing down to reality the way the RV came
        down to Earth (with yet another "time to save somebody" ending
        followed immediately by yet another "talk your way out of yet
        another mess" ending).  Also, pardon me for pointing fingers
        at specific people, but Raymond Persi (is this his directing
        debut?) needs to be taken to task for some blatant animation
        problems (two that stand out: the one scene with Ralph and
        Wendell running in the playground, and a scene on the freeway
        where it looked like the RV was "pulsing").

GOOFS / FREEZE FRAME / WHATNOT You can't stick yourself up any of the noses at Mount Rushmore.

The RV turned 90 degrees in mid-air.

When the RV landed on the freighter's deck, all four tires burst and the bottom of the RV was flattened, but when Homer removed it from the ship with the crane, there was nothing wrong with it.

Bart and Lisa were not wearing seat belts, yet neither was hurt in any way when the RV landed on the freighter. Since there was no damage done to the freighter's deck, they should have been injured if not killed by the sudden landing. (Then again, this is the show where the Space Shuttle could make a sudden stop by crashing into the side of a building with nobody getting hurt, isn't it?)

He said that Bart and Lisa were home alone. That was not a reference to the movie.

He did the Macauley Culkin hand gesture from the movie when he said it.

That's a common gesture for someone to do when worried or shocked (on TV). Just because he said the words "home alone" doesn't make it a reference to Home Alone. It had nothing to do with Home Alone.

What makes you so positive that it is NOT a reference to Home Alone?

At this point in time, just mentioning the phrase "Home Alone", it would seem that it would be a movie reference. The fact that he included the obvious hand/face gestures makes it even more so.

Homer did the same expression in GABF05, and that was not a Home Alone reference. And just saying the words home alone to refer to people who are in their house (the motor home, in this case) alone is not a reference to Home Alone.

Besides, watch the scene again, and you'll see that it's not even the same expression as Macaulay Culkin's, apart from the hands on the cheeks. And Marge did not call Bart "Kevin", you're just being silly.

The phrase "home alone" is so ingrained into people's psyche's AS BEING a reference to the movie "Home Alone"; even it if were not actually intended to be a reference - it will be interpreted that way.

The phrase "home alone", (pre-Mckaulkin), is now forever trumped by the movie reference "Home Alone".

What the hell are you talking about? People with kids and things like that use the phrase on a daily basis, and the thought of the movie never crosses their mind. Why can't you guys just accept that you're wrong and that there was no reference?

Perhaps people use it on a daily basis. But when you present it in the media, like in an animated series that's famous for cultural references; people are going to think the movie "Home Alone".
