I actually loved this episode. A lot of stuff was contrived but the jokes were funny and that's what matters to me. There were so many funny things in this episode. It started out great with Marge's thoughts on the coy pond and continued on with things such as Mr. Burns covering for Homer, the whole match scene in the closet, Moe instantly getting 400 rejections speed dating, the newspaper headline reading "Ho. J Simpson trial starts today", the fist fight between Reverend Lovejoy and the Catholic Priest, the part where Carmen Electra asks homer to look her in the eyes and he says "I've made my choice", and one or two other things. I never watched the Simpsons for a deep elaborate plot or anything like that. The criteria I judge an episode by is if it makes me laugh a lot. I have a feeling that a few people are expecting it to be bad and their preconceptions make the jokes seem less humorous, or they just have a different sense of humor. I have loved nearly every bit of Season 13 and hope that OFF runs on for a good Season 14 and maybe even 15 if it can still be as good as 13 has.

Yes, some of the parts you mentioned were good, but even "Kill the Alligator and Run" had a handful of good lines; a few good throwaway jokes doesn't make a good episode.
I would hardly call those throwaway jokes and they were more than a few. They were even spaced well in the episode and just kept me laughing. I don't even know how those could be "throw away" jokes. I enjoyed themm and they made the episode for me. --- "Miklos1124" wrote in message news:[email]...

I totally agree. "The Frying Game" made me laugh out loud. Didn't you think it was funny when the only thing that makes the screamapiller laugh is Homer's execution. I'm laughing as I type this.

I agree. As I posted elsewhere, I laughed throughout this episode. It succeeded in doing what a comedy should do ... making people laugh. It may not have been as thought-provoking or as well-written as some older episodes, but I can't honestly say there have been very many older episodes which made me laugh much more than this one.
My favorite episode will always be the junior campers one: "Heh, you don't have a son."
