what happened to futurama? did they take it off the air? it was way better than simpsons. simpsons episodes now are horrible and they arent even funny anymore...

excuse me but i must ask if you are a fan of futarama then how can you not know what happened? not to be rude i just wonder........ the bad news is futarama is gone/dead/canceled. fox killed it as they have so many other good shows. they didn't know what they had so they played the old let's show it too early/why show it when we can bore people with sports/go watch king of the overated hill! mindset. for us fans though it's not quite fully dead as their is still the bongo comic and seasons 1 and 2 are out on dvd and coming mid 2004 season 3. if you are a fan and have a dvd player race out and get them know as among other things all eps have comentary my the writers/directions/producers as well as the voices of Bender,Fry and others!

hasn't been on tnt in months. it is still on cartoon network at 11:00 pm with a 2:am reshow.
Yeah they show it on Cartoon Network. HEY, I love the Simpsons, I like them more then Futurama.

Tell you something though - everytime i go into HMV, Virgin Megastore or Our Price here in the UK they've either sold out or have very few left. (of the box-sets). Whenever they were first available - especially season 4 - they were sold out! And the demand for them here is -still- high.
Surely FOX have to see that Futurama is making them lots of that stuff they love so much - CASH! cold hard legal tender! I thought Fox loved money? I thought rupert loved money?! Maybe the 'sold-out's here in the UK arent enough, perhaps they need a 'FUNZO' style stampeed from you guys in America. (Just remember to wear golfing shoes for the trampling).
Seriously though, you have to question the real motives for dumping futurama, the obvious one would have been money if it wasnt making so much of it. Poor role models? Hardly. There are TV shows made by america now that have questionable titles - let alone content. I once saw a woman pull her child away from a TV display in a Dixons shop because he was asking about 'Sex and the City' that was being advertised Waaay before watershed hour. (9pm in U.K.). It seems as though american TV is sat on the toilet bowl and its slipping down the u bend straight to the sewer - the only thing stopping it from getting there is a minority of american TV viewers who know a good show when they see it. (Probably everyone reading this :) )
Anyone actually know -why- Futurama was cancelled?? please lemme know, 'cause i'm clueless.

I think part of it was football. Part or all of episodes were chopped by games or worse, the post-game blather. Why anyone would want to watch a bunch of ex-jock blatherskites babble is beyond me. Or join the end of another game then tack on the blather.
While I miss the show and still catch unseen episodes, I don't think the satire was as great as The Simpsons.
Other than Stewie, I find the Family Guy's Family to be horrific. At least the brain dead son and father. The female characters a bit dull. On the other hand there are scenes that are hilarious. Such as the standard boring parent discussing the kids as they prepare for bed scene changed to take place as they are dressing in S&M leather outfits. It's more the Howard Stern than say Conan O'Brien.
