Is there any reason why the Mr. Plow episode isn't shown? I heard it was because Linda Ronstadt was offended by it, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, it's true. Linda Ronstadt is really pissed off at the Simpsons for having her voice herself on the show so she sued FOX, Gracie Films and Matt Groening for slander and defamation of character and won $15 million dollars.
Michael Jackson and Dustin Hoffman then led a class-action suit on behalf of all Simpsons guest stars (past, present and future) for the same reasons. FOX, Gracie Films and Matt Groening, fearing the worst, settled out of court for $250 billion dollars.
Subsequently, this will be the last season of the Simpsons. Also, next year, FOX will be renamed to JHON (Jackson, Hoffman and Others Network) in persuance with the settlement agreement.
It's a sad, sad day for television...

It was shown here in Boston within the past three months. A lot of stations (especially the ones that aren't double-running the show) are focusing on episodes from the later seasons, because they have more runs of them left on their contracts than they do of early episodes.
