What is that title a reference to? Anyone know?

Its the episode in which Sideshow Bob hypnotises Bart into killing Krusty. The only thing I can think of that shares that same story is the Manchurian Candidate.

I gather the Manchurian Candidate is about a POW brainwashed and then sent home as a sleeper, to assassinate on command.

But the title of the episode surely references the Day of the Jackal, about a paid assassin. Nothing about hypnotism or brainwashing.
