Jumping the shark: a primer

It gets its name from the happy days episode wher Fonzie jumped a shark on waterskis--after that, it is believed, that the show never had another good episode. Hey Francisco, I don't get it....did Fonzie actually jump over a real shark? I've never seen that Happy Days ep and I can't really get a mental picture of what he did.

Yes, they were on vacation and there was a ski jump with sharks swimming in the water between the two ramps and, if I recall correctly, it was a two part episode and the big cliffhanger was whether or not fonzie was going to make the jump...tune in next week to find out.
