I'm sure you didn't get the great satirical jokes in this episode. This was a good episode, spoofing several CURRENT events at once. It does not belong in a "classics" list, but it doesn't suck either... if only for "Drop da bomb". ROTFLMAO

As much as I despise teenie boy-bands (I'm a fan of bands such as Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, and The Who... so GET REAL), I'll rather watch N'Sync making good fun of themselves than any other "celebrity" who doesn't add ANYTHING to the show's edge.

but anyway, Nsync didnt make fun of themselves, they danced in every so often to stunned exclamations from Milhouse and spouted pointless and totally unfunny catchphrases. Not to mention the very final scene, which was just saying "hey, we've got Nsync on, we cant possibly offend anyone, this is a kid's band, so lets spout some jingoistic propaganda to keep the balance". that said, apart from Nsync (who could have been cut completely and improved the flow of the episode - as many guest stars are these days) and the whole Mad Magazine ending, it wasn't that bad. but Nsync and most of act 3 drag it down to about a C-, and even without those it still wouldn't be B territory by any means.

How was that not making fun of themselves? "Our clothes are getting out of date. To the Bandana Republic!!" They're openly acknowledging how shallow and teenybopper they are (stubble glitter??), and yet they're laughing all the way to the bank. It would have been a worse episode had they insisted that they were totally legitimate musicians.

N'Syncs' walking music is what made that episode. Did seem like an awful big rip-off of "Josie and the Pussycats" though.

The worst one in recent memory was the "Lisa becomes US President" episode. Good God that was painful.
