The curse is something we joke about, but everytime it strikes, someone really cool has died. See, I am already being funny, because there really is no curse.

Some of these really cool people include George Harrison, Linda McCartney, Larry White (funny again), Richard Nixon, and now Johnny Carson.

Not only was Johnny Carson on the Simpsons, but his final episode of the Tonight Show was spoofed when Bette Midler sang to Krusty the Clown during Krusty's comeback special.

Carson had a great job. Go on TV five nights a week and be nice to people. And get paid to do it. Not bad. He did a good job of it, too.

Carson was on live 4 nights a week. Monday's were the Best of Carson. Near the end of the run he wasn't on Friday's either, IIRC.

I'll miss Johnny. I grew up in the 80's (12-21 years old), and his humor influenced my sense of humor greatly.

I thought Leno "guest" hosted on Mondays? I didn't know that they had reruns of talk shows back then. Just wondering, do you recall what "The Tonight Show" was like when Leno "guest" hosted? How many times did Leno host before officially taking over the job? Did McMahon annouce Leno, or did someone else do it? What sorts of comedy sketches did Leno do back then? Did he do bits like Headlines or Iron Jay? Thank you for whatever info you have.

Just another note, in reference to the Simpsons... a couple of times Krusty couldn't air a live episode and announce "tonight is the Best of Krusty". ... They'd show a really old episode that was obviously dated.

Before Leno was the Best of Carson. I don't believe Leno guest hosted very often until the final year of Carson.

McMahon was off on the days Leno was there. I believe Doc announced him.

I was never much a fan of Leno, except when he did Letterman. Can't recall any of the guest hosts he did.
