Last night on FOX news Chicago, there was a news story about a small college in Adrian, Michigan that offers a Simpsons 101 class in their philosophy department. The class aims to apply the great philosophies of life by using the Simpsons characters as examples. For example, Homer was seem as a good man who has a zest for life, even if it involves donuts.

I was wondering if Grandpa Simpson could be considered Aristotle?

Do you remember what the name of the college is? I've heard about colleges/universities doing things like this, you know, devoting classes on pop culture, or interpretation of movies, but I've never heard of a Simpsons class. Heck... I'd go back to school for that! Wait! What am I saying??? Go back to college?! Uh oh... visions of Homers return to college are coming to mind..... D'oh!

Stuff like this has been popping up periodically ever since "The Simpsons And Philosophy" was published by those Harvard brainiacs. This has been the textbook for all of these courses. If you are interested, I suggest picking up the book rather than returning to college. Net savings: about $1000. But then, of course, you wouldn't have access to all those swingin college par-tays, and you couldn't foil the plans of that stuffy old dean . . .

I read the book (and enjoy philosophy) as well. I was somewhat disappointed, but it was interesting to read some Harvard stuffed shirts' interpretation of the philosophical aspects of the Simpsons.

If you're bored and need a book to read, go for it. I wouldn't suggest delaying your current reading list for it though.
