Maybe I'm not using the right perspective, or maybe it's just some pretty late nights in the writers' room, but episode endings and resolutions don't seem to be up to snuff recently. The third act (and remainder of the second act after Carl's gay line, which by the way would have been a pretty good act break anyway) seemed to fall apart for me after a somewhat promising premise. For what Homer did (crashing into the stick sculptures) and why it happened (trying to keep a promise to Marge, with a reasonable delay), Marge seemed to take it awfully hard - OR DID SHE? I don't quite understand the end; it seems like either Marge suddenly felt better and made a monument to Homer after moping for a week, or she was never really that upset but wanted to make Homer think about what he did in the meantime. So, am I missing something important and just not being a fan of the ending, or was it actually something of a letdown to anyone else?

By the way: I'm sure someone will have posted what the Homer dressing sequence was based on (I try not to read the group until I'm done my own notes), but being the 80s fan I am I was a little intrigued (and then let down) by the possibility of a brief "Money for Nothing" bit instead. Not that it has much to do with ice cream... on the other hand, didn't David Silverman do some work on the MFN music video?
