I actually liked the 300th episode better the second time I watched it. But then again, I was half asleep the first time I saw it.

Top 25 ever??? Are you nuts? The episode with Lisa's Spellympics was devoid of any intelligent humor and relied on cheap jokes at the Olympics and a "celebrity" guest star that was completely out of place. And the episode does not follow The Simpsons - nobody gives a damn about Lisa being smart and representing Springfield in the Spellympics!!! That is so absurd. If the episode was about that absurdity that the town and the school children were excited for her - then that could have had promise as a bizarro-world episode, similar to the time when Homer became best friends with Flanders.
Having the town throw their support and enthusiasm behind Lisa would be like an episode in which for some unexplained reason Homer likes Flanders (and that peciliarity is not the main theme of the episode).

Absurd is the wrong word. Out of character is more appropriate. Why would the entire town rally behind her all of a sudden? Like someone mentioned, we can't just suddenly have Homer like Ned for no unexplained reason (gags such as "Where are mom and dad?" "They went for a walk with the Flanders." notwithstanding). There should be SOME continuity in characterizations or the show becomes a free-for-all.

They were better than those eps, but they weren't noteworthy either. Not bad and not good is my verdict. They won't be remembered for being of high quality or for being bottom of the barrel.
