Least Favorite Season Poll

What is everyones least favorite season of Simpsons?? Me im gonna have to go with season 1, i hate it with a passion!

Season One is just fine. If you're only watching the show for quality of animation, then you're watching it for the wrong reasons, kid.

Back to the topic, I'd have to say Season 11 was crap. There were only five episodes from that season worth viewing, and the rest was just...bad.

I can give a rats ass about quality of animation bub...I dislike season one because the jokes arent that funny and episodes tend to be borning.

Plus i like the "Stupid" Homer as opposed to the "Jerk-Like" Homer we see in the first few episodes.

Im guess im just looking for the more "Out-there" humor we find the show just packed with in season 3 and on.

I have to agree here. Season one just had Homer being a bumbling sort, trying to do good but failing due to his own rather mediocre intelligence. While the jokes were not "rimshot" jokes, the show had a warmth that is very endearing, I think. Unlike with current episodes, the Simpson's wasn't always about pratfalls and ridiculous situations. The writers had the wisdom to realize that there was plenty of humor to mine from the intereaction of the family members.

Are you joking? How can a season that brought such greats as "You Only Move Twice" and "Homer's Enemy"?

My worst season is probably One. I know most of you will think I just like the new episodes becaus ethey are stupid but I'm 16 and have been watching the Simpsons since I was 5. It's not because of the poor animatation but the stories weren't as funny as the later seasons. Still I don't hate this season, and I'm still buying every season of DVD.

It also brought us IMO the worst THOH, 4F04, 4F07, and 4F09. I like Season 12's THOH better than Season 8's. IMO those episodes were a big drop in quality from Season 7. 4F05 was no picnic lunch either, but it wasn't as bad.

I'm sure you'll agree that satire is nearly impossible for a 5-year old to understand. You have to understand the context of the scenes, and for that you need life experience. By the time you reached 16, Season 1 was outdated (and syndicated). It's no wonder you don't like it.

But, I always come back to this idea... there never would have been a Season 2 if Season 1 hadn't been as good as it was. The first episode of Season 2 (7F03) was the highest ranked episode of "The Simpsons" ever (it ranked #3 for the week). That means that the first season had a huge impact on America; people couldn't wait to see more... after that first season. The Simpsons hasn't been ranked higher than #3 since 7F03, and hasn't been close to those numbers for about 7 years.

I was 21 when Season 1 came out, so I did understand the satire and the humor. There was nothing to compare the Simpsons to in 1990 (except the comic strips "Doonesbury" and "Bloom County"), and it nearly became as good as those strips in Season 1. The so-called shoddy animation didn't really have a peer (at the time). My friends and I watched our Season 1 video tape over and over again. I laughed my butt off at scenes like the Bigfoot sequence in 7G09, and Homer-Claus taking a bite of the kid's doughnut in 7G08 (after his explanation that he "doesn't need all that junk for Christmas").

IMO Season 4 was the absolute funniest season ever, so I think I agree.

I couldn't really name my "least favorite season", as there have been good episodes in each season. I think the bad episodes started popping up in Season 8, and through Season 12 they've popped up with more regularity. I didn't have any _major_ complaint about the show, until sometime during Season 8.

Do we share the same brain? I was 21 when the first season came out, my favorite season is season 4, and I thought that season8's THOH was the worst one.

On the other hand, you don't like 4F04 and 4F09, which I quite enjoyed.

Oh well. Nice to know someone known as "Chadderack" isn't my soul mate LOL. And wasn't that the most overrated episode ever?

Season 8 is one of those seasons where the episodes either are classics or such that I almost dislike(!) them. I'd say that season 8 has one of the HIGHEST counts of really classy episodes... Unfortunately, it also has the highest count of episodes that aren't really what you'd like to expect from "the Simpsons".

That's why it's my least favourite season.

Season 11.

Probably season 8, although season 9 wasn't much of an improvement.
