...I liked tonights (01/04/04) episode. The story was hilarious. There was minimal if any stupid Homer bits. The 3 Stooges bit was cool. The Woodstock tie-ins were right on the money. (And was done without any "guest stars", just with video and music to evoke the Festival.) Even the animation seemed top notch. It was a pleasure...and a riot...to watch. Good classic Simpsons.

Actually, while some of the scenes are out of Woodstock, the obvious reference is to Altamont. It took place in December of 1969, and was nominally a free Rolling Stones concert. "Nominally" because various other groups were on the billing, like Jefferson Airplane, the Flying Burrito Brothers and others. But it was a disaster, with various bouts of violence and an outright murder.

The outcome of the concert tonight was obvious the minute they played played the Rolling Stones "Gimme Shelter". It immediately becomes an Altamont reference, and since Altamont did not turn out well, I knew that the Roofi/Raffi concert would not go well.

If by "cool" you mean "lame," then I agree. Didn't we see Homer get his Curly on enough when he was trying to see the "Insert Brain Here" graffitti on the back of his head way back when?

The imagery was Woodstock, but the music was Gimmie Shelter which was used in the movie of the same name which was about the Rolling Stones 1969 USA tour which culminated at the Altamont Speedway.

I was counting the minutes until Bernie Mac.

Good classic Simpsons.
