Homer's E-Mail

On tonight's re-run (missed the first time) homer gives his email address as chunkylover... etc.

Just curious... has anyone tried sending a message to that address?

Wonder if it belongs to Matt Groening?

You missed the second time, too - it was registered before the first airing by Matt Selman (a writer on the show), and immediately got flooded with emails - he did his best to reply to people as Homer (maybe with some assistance from assistants), and I even got a reply-to-reply-to-reply from him, though it ended there...I'm guessing the address started getting more spam and other crap than it was worth to wade through for the good stuff, so it's either being ignored or shut down (do you get a 550 when you email it?)... Also, as far as I know, though it's an AOL address, chunkylover53 never appeared online on my list - could be a universal block or something, since I was online most of the time at that point. I hope that helps, though I guess you might feel a little bad to have missed your chance at correspondence...unless MS reopened it upon the third airing tonight.

Those people who chose to use a real phone number on tv and in movies are real idiots. Unbelievable. And then, there are even bigger idiots who call the number! It's like that Jenny song, 20 years ago, people called too, 867-5309.

It's possible that the Simpsons just made up some email address that happens to belong to this guy.

More likely, they made sure no one had this email and used it on the show and then this simspon fan went and registered the address as himself.

No, it was definitely Matt Selman - there were actual (print) articles about the whole thing, straight from the horses' mouths - but it is possible that he dropped it and let someone else pick it up (as you mentioned in another post) - I've seen chunkylover posting on a.t.s, but I think it's still MS.
