22 Short Films about Springfield.

in this episode, me and my sister watched it and counted the short films. we only counted 18 or 19. is there really 22? or did we mess up?

I've counted before too and came up with about the same thing. Anyway, from http://www.snpp.com/episodes/3F18.html :

I counted twenty-two, counting the outtaked "Marge the Hostage" and
    "Ralphplane!"   My counting included Dr. Nick's board review and
    Grampa's insanity as two stories.

The what-sit-now? Please give me any info pertaining to these outtaked shorts.

I wouldn't be too sure. My intention was trying to explain why, like the man said, 22 in base 8 is 18 in base 10 by using a general example, through examples which require nothing more than common knowledge of powers, addition and multiplication. Not everyone who "masters" this have knowledge about the different number bases. It's really not until you read f.e. Electronics or Computer Science at university/college level that you need to count using binary numbers and hexadecimal numbers (and possibly others). I was only trying to make things a little clearer for those who don't know about number bases and want to know. Which perhaps is nobody in this NG, I dont know (neither do you). That doesn't mean I automatically assumed that nobody here knows what base 8 is. Geez...

I was reading the capsule (which, btw, puts in a few "errors" that aren't really errors, most notably the mailbox geyser...that had to be intentional), and it says that there were two outtaken Films, those being "Marge the hostage" and "Ralphplane!" - I don't know what they were, or where they would have been, but perhaps that was what made the title what it was. It also could be a reference to the length of episodes...if each segment lasted for one minute, there would be enough time for 22. Finally, the real film the title spoofed ended in a 2, so maybe they wanted to be consistent there. Anyway, here are my 20 (and probably the 2 cut scenes count for the others):
