The Albuquerque International Balloon Festival is an annual event that takes place in New Mexico in early October. Lasting nine days, the festival contains various events featuring hot-air balloons of various shapes and sizes. One of the main highlights (which goes back to the start of the Festival) is a balloon race inspired by the Road Runner cartoons, in which a group of "Coyote" balloons race to be the closest one to the "Road Runner" balloon.
Mr. Burns' comment about Ohio in the 2004 Election refers to how a number of people felt the vote in that state was rigged to allow Bush to win, thus ensuring victory in the election (both candidates had enough electorial points to ensure victory by winning Ohio).
Based on a novel by Stephen King, Firestarter tells the tale of a girl, who, as a result of her parents being part of a government- runned experiment that resulted in them in receiving telepathic powers, was born with the ability to start fires with her mind. As a result, she and her father become targets from the organization behind the experiment (who want to use the child as a weapon). The film version starred Drew Barrymore as the title character (which led to various "Firestarter" related jokes about her), with an all-star cast (including Martin Sheen, Art Carney, and George C. Scott) playing supporting roles.
