It's funny when Homer and Marge say it. It's less funny when the President of the United States says it six times in one speech.
"Nuculer"
Indeed...it's best for the country's moral and confidence as a whole to not listen to him speak very often. I love how he pronounces 'americans' myself. Uh-mur-i-cuns

Didn't Jimmy Carter say 'nuculer' too? I don't remember people making fun of his mangling of the English language.

I work at a Nuclear power plant and its amazing the number of people that say "nucular" I would say about 75% of people that work there pronounce it that way including some people that are quite high up in the organization.
Anyone know where I can get a wav clip of Homer saying "it's pronouced nucular" so I can put it on the Windows start-up at work?

Well, it doesn't take a nuculer scientist to pronounce "foilage".

Try wavking.com. The episode in question is "Simpson Tide". I don't know the production code offhand, although you can find that at snpp.com's Episode Guide.
I tried wavking.com. They don't have it.

We shouldn't have to think of power sources as scary. Nuclear power will come back to bite us in the ass. I promise that.
See, nuclear power plants I trust. Nuclear power plants depending on Windows I don't. I have faith that the actual computers running the plant don't use windows though...so I feel secure.

Well, I was very young then...but from what I understand a lot of people made fun of Jimmy Carter for lots of different reasons.
Kevin
Yes, there are many reasons to make fun of others. The first one is accent. It's fun to mock the way one speaks. It's easier than listening to content. If we listen, we might have to use our brains. And obviously, anyone who pronounces words differently, due to a regional accent, must be an idiot. Why, all the English must be stupid since they can't pronounce 'aluminum' or 'laboratory' correctly. Not like all of us; especially those in New York City. We have no accents and pronounce everything correctly.

Your irony is ironic. You used sarcasm to criticize satire itself. Interesting.
You are either extremely astute in your observation (in which case I thank you), or you're being irony and sarcastic (in which case I'll need to give you a proper thrashing which is exceedingly difficult via e-mail, so I hope it's the former).
