That Simpsons movie trailer

Holy mediocrity Batman, is that the best they can come up with? Please tell me the movie will be good and not just Homer doing stupid shit.

Look at the clip again, the part where he is getting bashed back and forth by the wrecking ball. The rock and hard place are way on either end of the letterboxed frame. The (intentionally) lame rock and hard place gag goes on for that extra amount of time, sort of asking "hey, what's the joke here?"

The joke is "same old Simpsons humor, made marginally better by it being on a big, wide screen. Poking fun at themselves and the movie has kind of been the theme of the promotions all along.

The 3-D animation leading into the promo is just that. But otherwise, I just don't think they're that clever. The various clips posted around the Internet show the full letterbox (at least the ones I've seen), but I can't remember anything seeming out of place last on my pitiful 4:3 TV. I could still see a rock, and the 'Hard Place' building.

I did find the trailer pretty underwhelming. The bit with the rabbit at the beginning wasn't necessary, or very original, either. Some of the actual animation with Homer did look cool and unique, but the whole gag with the wrecking ball was stupid. Hope this isn't what the whole movie ends up being like.
