Live Action Simpsons Movie?

Has anyone considered that they make the movie live action? You find actors that bear a resemblence to the characters, then complete the look with prosthetic devices. Kind of like what they did with did with Planet of the Apes. The voice actors from the show would do the audio track. The character actors would sort of be lip syncing which is basically what they do anyway. The video and audio are mixed together at a later time for those that don't know

Also this would be a very expensive way to do a live action movie because not only would they have to pay the live actors they would also have to pay the voice actors. For that kind of money they can just do animation.

I wasn't clear. What I meant was that when they make movies, they film the visual stuff and record a seperate audio track and they then mix the two together. I suggested that the voice actors listen to the tape of the visual actors in their natural voices and then do a second track which matches the first only in the voices of the characters.

The problem... the actor who looks most like Homer is the dad from that Steve Urkel show.

I think Dan Akroyd looks a lot like him these days...with out a lot of prostetic help.

Very few cartoons are done live - it's a terrible strain on the animators' wrists.
