Better yet, since they did show it once on NBC, does anyone have a tape of it? If I remember correctly, it was not a bad episode.

In this episode Jerry is Varnsen and Kramer is Pennypacker. I can't remember Elaine using a fake name (ever).

Yes, in the episode Kramer lit a cigar while leaning up against a convertable (was it Jerry's Saab?) and dropped it in the back seat. And in the back seat there was a Puerto Rican flag. So it started burning. Then Kramer took it out of the car, threw it on the floor and started stomping on it with his foot to put out the fire. Then the two latin queer guys Kramer had had trouble with in previous episodes notice this and think Kramer is purposely burning the lag to piss off Puerto Ricans or because he's a bigget, whatever... (this is how I remember it, it's been two years since I've seen it). A lot of Puerto Ricans in the States took offense to the flag-burning and demanded that this episode would not be shown again. Am I correct in all this, people?

Don't think it was Jerry's SAAB. During th eepisode, Kramer did a leap into another car he thought to be Jerry's. This might be the same car (that had the flag)

I'd say more to piss them off. Kramer's not a bigot in this series...even though he wouldn't wear the AIDS ribbon in the walk. That is another episode he got in trouble with the gay guys. The first time was the amoire he was supposed to guard for Elaine...which she got for the nice face discount.

yeah...I remember the brou-haha when this all came about. Luckily I taped it at the time.

It was indeed Black Saab. Earlier, Kramer came back to the car with the flag draped around him, in the spirit of the parade. He just tossed it into the back seat. Also, when he lit it on fire, he was right next to Maroon Golf. The two cars were right next to each other. And if there's still any doubt, the car had no one in it.

Black Saab rules!!!

It's a shame that episode was banned. Beyond the scene the PR's overreacted to, the rest of the episode was pretty funny. (Although Elaine's subplot left a little to be desired, George's more than made up for it.)

It was a Puerto Rican Day parade. Kramer went off to join the festivities and he came back dancing with the flag draped across his shoulders. The thing is, he was really embracing the culture, he wasn't stuffy or uptight at having the streets blocked, he was just enjoying himself. It should have been absolutely obvious to anyone watching that there was no malicious intent to his destroying the flag. I guess it was the act itself, stripped of all context, that the PRs were angry about, and I think that's just pigheadedness on their part.

i HAVE BEEN IN SEARCH OF THIS EPISODE MYSELF-BELIEVE IT OR NOT ON VIDEO-IF ANYONE WAS IN THE Habit of taping first run showings. if you hear anything-please let me know

Damn! And I thought the UK censors were tough/unreasonbale/oversensitive/ add your own phrase here. I feel bad for all you guys who missed out on a great episode. There was nothing malicious in what Kramer did. IMHO I think people get too serious and OVERREACT over things like this.

A small correction: it wasn't the network censors, just a response to complaints (however misguided) from the community.
