Oranges in Japan

I don't know what the big *hullaballoo* is all about with regards to oranges....fact of the matter is...the Japanese can get any produce that they want -- at a cost -- and from what I've seen the Japanese don't mind paying the price either. I've just returned from spending 3 years in Okinawa, an island south of Japan, and canteloupes cost $16 each....there was no shortage of locally grown *tangerines* -- they taste just like american tangerines, however, the skin is green but the fruit itself is orange in color. The cost of this type of tangerine was around 70 cents per pound. You could buy a huge bag of them for $5 from vendors who had produce stands by the roadside....

I just happen to be doing a study on fruit prices in foreign nations and the only information I couldn't find out about it Okinawa. By the way, can ya tell me how much kiwis were down there?
