Did anyone know that that show was based on a real life soup nazi that exists in New York.

Yup.

The local TV news here in NYC did a follow up report the other day. The real life "Soup Nazi" guy has a brother who's a successful muffin maker. They interviewed him (I didn't catch his name) and he was completely the opposite of his brother, a really nice friendly person!

The guy was also on Letterman serving soup not long after the episode first aired last year (or earlier this year? (whatever!)).

Yeah I saw that on Dateline and I thought it was very interesting cuz there were a lot of similiarities (spelling) as umm I believe Philip Stone said... "Lifes does imitates art"

The next time I'm in New York, I would love to give a try and see how good it is as everyone says. I'm just wondering if the soup would actually make my knees buckle. :) *wink*

Nope, I had no idea <g> Ya.. It"s been posted a hundred times since it aired :-) Tomorrow night, Dateline NBC has a portion of the show where they meet the "real" Soup Nazi. I'm definately going to tape that one.

I've been to the Soup Guy a bunch of times both Pre-seinfeld and post. The only difference is that now there are a lot more pinheads on line who are waiting just to bust this poor guy's chops. He's never been mean to me and I've never seen him be really rude to anyone who didn't deserve it. The soup is REALLY good, believe it or not, as good as you've heard and the guy is not nearly as much of a dick as the show would have you believe. To those who complain about the guy, I say just don't wait on line or just do what he expects of you. It's his business after all.

Of caorse this is based on a real guy...most of the characters on the show are true people.

You should see the real Kramer! He does a bus tour of NYC that's hysterical.
