What do YOU think Newman's first name is? My instinct is to say Sam -- since he's a postman, borderline wacko, and once had the postal bag previously owned by David (Son of Sam) Berkowitz! But that seems too easy .. what do YOU think?

I don't think Newman's first name will ever be revealed.
There was one episode where you saw Newman's business cards, and they just said "Newman".
In The Bottle Deposit after Newman selt will a farmers daughter she said "Goodbye Norman, goodbye!" I know she probally got mixed up with Newman but that might be his name. Norman Newman.
No, the girl that they hired didn't know anything about the show and mistakenly called him Norman. They thought it was funny, she being a stereotypical dumb farmer's daughter (no offense) and all, so they left it in. Good choice, I think.
I read in an article some time back, that the actress who played the farmer's daughter was supposed to say "Newman" but mistakenly said, "Norman" Jerry and co. found that funnier, so they kept it. alt showbiz gossip
