Has anyone named their dog "FARFUL"? Why would you name a dog "FARFUL"? What sort of dog was "FARFUL"? I know he was "just a puppy" (said by the drunk).

Farfel (sp?) was the name of Paul Wichell's (the ventriloquist) dog. He was another of his puppets, along with Jerry Mahoney. Farfel became quite famous back in the 60's for doing Nestle's Quik commercials. The jingle went..."N-E-S-T-L-E-S, Nestle's makes the very best." After which, Farfel would open his mouth wide and say, in a long drawn out way..."CHOOOOOOCLATE" and he would then snap his mouth shut loudly. There, probably more than you ever wanted to know about Farfel.

That was Paul Winchell (note the addition of the "n"). And Farfel was the Nestle Quik spokesdog as recently as the mid 1980s. I was seriously distressed when they replaced him with that no-talent rabbit!

OBSCURE???? Give me a break!!! These commercials are classics!! Of course, you have to be a Baby Boomer to remember (and appreciate) it. It was obviously before your time. Obviously someone ELSE remembered him, or there wouldn't have been the reference to the name. And just why do you find it "really frightening?" Do you scare easily?
