Newnam was first heard (but not seen) in "The Revenge" (voice provided by Larry David), and first seen (played by Wayne Knight) in "The Suicide". The reason for the rift between Jerry and Newman has not been explored on the show. Whatever it was, it was big, and it happened before the cameras started filming.

"Newman" is his full name. His first (or last) name has never been revealed. Some will dispute this claim, but it remains a fact.

True....although that little bit of voice track was recut later, as the show was being released to syndication, so when you see it replayed now you hear Wayne Knight's voice.

Big to Newman, in all likelihood, but probably not to any normal and sane man. This is one of the things that could be exploited in a reunion show...along with us find- ing out what Newman's full name is (I suspect "Newman" is simply his last name). Remember, it took 5 1/2 years for us to find out Cosmo Kramer's full name...
