Greetings all Seinfeldians, I recently realized while watching my new favorite show since Seinfeld, "The West Wing (TWW)", that one of the reoccurring characters has been on Seinfeld before. Well not actually her, the actor Marlee Matlin. "THE LIP READER" Jerry falls for a beautiful tennis lines person, he asked her out, from behind and Jerry becomes infuriated at this apparent ignoring of him. He laments, "What are you? Deaf?!" She turns at the critical moment and proclaims, "Bingo!" The ep is extremely funny with Kramer signing and the Jerry's date reading the lips of a party guest to figure out why she acted the way she did. I want the episode on tape. Does anyone have it? I am willing to pay shipping and tape costs.
On TWW she plays Joey Lucas, a DC poller hired by the White House on numerous occasions to poll the public on issues and views on The President. She has also acted as a political consultant. She is accompanied by a translator, Kenny. Both characters are great and the way she interacts with Bradley Whiteford (Joshua Lyman) on TWW is great! She is so funny! I saw Marlee Matlin on The Larry Sanders the other night. I have become somewhat of a fan of her work since I started watching TWW. Funny thing is that I started dating a girl who is deaf around last May and quickly learned ASL. I was largely able to due this just by practice and good motivation. I am not fluent, but very good at it.
