Hold on: Jerry IS a RIGHT-handed ball-player?!

I had been led to believe (from someone on the ng a couple of years ago) that when we see Jerry in "The Pony Remark" wearing a baseball glove for a right-hander that such was a "gaff," or "goof," or "flub" as it were, because Jerry is plainly a lefty.

Now, however, comes the Bette Midler episode (years later; I caught it two nights ago) where--Holy Heck-a-roo!--Jerry at the softball game is shown not merely wearing a baseball glove for a right-hander, but is shown throwing, and throwing well, WITH HIS RIGHT HAND! (This is when he's warming up by playing catch before the game in which George knocks Bette out cold).

Does the News Guy maintain a list of goofs? Is the baseball-glove thing on it? Well, then it should be removed forthwith.

Evidently, some indeed exist who are left-handed in everything but throwing, and I learn something new every day.

This will also give a clue about which side he hangs to:

Pull with the right....hang to the left.

Pull with the left......hang to the right.

As cheapness is not a sense, ambidexterity is not a goof.

There are people who write with one hand and do just about every other activity with the opposite hand as dominant.

My mother and my wife both write with their right hand, but do everything else primarily lefty (golf, throw, kick, play an instrument, use silverware...).

As you point out, Seinfeld could easily write with his left hand but do everything else primarily right handed. He also wears his wristwatch on his right hand, as left-handed writers tend to do.

Phil Mickelson is an excellent case in point. He plays golf left handed (very well) and is even known as "Lefty". I was blown away once when I saw him playing catch in the parking lot at a golf course with Bones, his caddy, and he was throwing and catching right handed. Turns out he is right handed. He plays golf left handed because of how he watched his father and siblings as a kid (a real little kid) and literally "mirrored" their swings.

Some people are bat and catch with the hand they don't write with. As a guitar player, I know that some guitarists do the same thing. Sometimes it's due to the fact that when they were young, lefty gloves (or guitars) weren't around.

However, if there was another baseball/softball episode, and he was lefty - that would be a goof.....

In the episode with the marble bread (that he stole from the old lady). I remember him throwing it to George at a second story window - what hand did he use for that???
