Susan's parents have changed

Just saw the most recent episode of Seinfeld, the one where George's parents meet Susan's parents. But what the hell happened to Susan's parents? The woman who played Susan's mom in this episode isn't the same person who played her in the episode where Kramer burns Susan's cabin down. They aren't even remotely alike. And back then they lived in a small apartment. Now suddenly they're rich?!

Well, actor continuity hasn't been a strong point of Seinfeld. I remember when George's dad was a bald guy.

Hear! Hear! I logged on intending to make the same observation. Furthermore, if my failing memory serves, Susan's father died of shock, or something, after the cabin burned down and his letters were discovered. Am I remembering something incorrectly?

These changes occur in TV all the time. Remember on "Bewitched" they changed Darrin and Sam never noticed.....

Perhaps this change will be explained later (alien abduction?)

Well, the apartment may be different, and I'm not sure about the mother, but the father was definitely the same. The "Cheever Letters" episode was just on in syndication. He has a beard now.

I don't think so. I think it's always been Jerry Stiller.

The actress (Grace Zabriskie) who played Susan's mother is the same as in "The Cheever Letters", as is the actor (Warren Frost) who = played her father. I was very happy to see they used the same people in last night's episode. In the episode "The Handicap Spot", = (I believe the first appearance of Mr. and Mrs. Costanza) the actor who played George's father was John Randolph. Two actors have a= lso played Jerry's father; Phil Bruns in "The Stakeout", and Barney Martin in subsequent episodes. Trust me on this one.

Did anybody notice the preponderance of "Twin Peaks" actors on last night's show? (Jan. 4). I thought that was funny. Susan's parents were Laura Palmer's mother and Donna Hayward's father! Also, I think the little old lady who Jerry stole the bread from was in "TP," but I can't place her...just one of David Lynch's many fringe characters, I think.

The parents are the same. Just close your eyes and listen to the voices. I remember the dad from "The Stand" (he was the doctor)

Actually, they _were_ the same actors (Warren Frost and Grace Zabriskie); they just looked different. (because they haven't been on since "The Cheever Letters" three years ago.) It was actually one of the rare times where you see visible aging on a TV show, as opposed to just fast-forwarding time.

Well, they do own that department store with the security guard in the rocking chair now. Of course, we don't know how much Seinfeld time has passed between then and now.

Susan's parents are definitely the same people. The father now has a beard and the mother has a different hair style. As for Georges parents, in the origional airing of "The Handicap Spot", (not the one shown in syndication, they reshot the scenes) there was a different man playing the father. No doubt about it. I have it on tape.

You can also check on any episode guide, it usually tells who played who in each episode.

It wasn't that small. When they were having dinner in "The Cheever Letters", the apartment looked pretty nice. And they could have moved in the last 3 years.

You mean John Randolph. And Jerry's dad was a different actor in the first episode. But overall they've done a pretty good job of getting the same actors to play recurring parts.

When they switched actors, they went back and RE-SHOT all the scenes from that episode with Frank Costanza in them. This was before the episode was released in syndication. They did it for continuity, and because Mr. Costanza wasn't in that many scenes. I never saw the original.
