what happened to ER? did it get moved off of Must see tv? or was the pretender on just this one night to get it a following?

I was just noticing the same thing last night - it was obvious what they were up to.
Ever read a newspaper? Lots of stories start on the front page, only to be continued down in the bowels of the paper, where you'd never have discovered them on your own.
The same thing is happening with Pretender/ER. They know Thursday is the hottest night (well, I *hope* they do), so they put the brand-new Pretender on then. During it, they showed scenes from the NEXT Pretender, "on its regular night, Saturday". Coincidentally, the season premiere of ER is NEXT Thursday in the same slot. Pretty slimy if you ask me, but good marketing sense nonetheless. ER already has a following (or at least an awareness), so they assumed viewers would seek it out and wait for it if necessary. The Pretender doesn't have this advantage, so they stuck it where you'd trip over it, hopefully getting hooked enough to add Saturday to your viewing habits.
Uhmm..more than just a following. It was the #1 show in Nielsen ratings last season. :)
