A !NEW! Seinfeld Finale observation (promise)

The Seinfeld finale screened on Wednesday NZ Time here in New Zealand.

There's this incident that occurs a few times with Kramer slapping himself in the head and jumping up and down. He said he had some water in his ear from the beach that he couldn't get out. I didn't understand this bit until the 4th viewing :)

The way I see it Kramer's whole body was a ketchup bottle :) He was slapping himself and jumping kind of like how George was at the start of the program with a real ketchup bottle. A common problem.

Now I have to figure the link between Kramer and George's fascination with ketchup in this particular episode.

Me too. I've seen the finale a number of times now, and never made the "Kramer as Ketchup" connection. Nice lateral thinking!

It seems most of the people who didn't like it didn't give it a 2nd chance either. Me, I think it keeps getting better each time I watch it. Just knowing that Larry David had less than a week to write an hour+ episode that somehow tied together 9 season's worth of mayhem makes the finale that much better. Man, what pressure he was under!

Everytime I watch it, I notice something new. Like how when David left a few years ago, Jerry stopped including the stand-up performance bits in the episodes. But the last scene was of Jerry performing stand-up. New material, no less.

I figure after about 7 viewings, than anyone with blanket negative
comments based on a single viewing just wasn't trying.

" You talkin' to me?"(courtesy of Robert DeNiro.) My comprehension quotient is usually pretty astute the first time around. It is mostly a show that has several great scenes that I found hysterical (which I have found in roughly 3/4 of Seinfeld's total program count) on first viewing that I wish to see again and again to relive the laughter. I found NO scenes in the finale that were funny from the main four, and only Phil Morris's glib lawyer funny for a few of his interrogations with past guest stars. I guess I and the majority of the population just weren't trying hard enough to find a diamond in the rough finale.

I thought the final ep was a major letdown the first time I saw it but I've watched it a few times now and I must admit I find more in it each time I watch.

Jennifer, even though I don't know you so my opinion might not count for much, I'm glad you gave the final episode a 2nd/3rd chance, and I'm pleased with the way your opinion changed.

As for your 2nd statement, well, I couldn't agree more.  Imagine what
sorts of new ground they'd be breaking RIGHT NOW if Jerry agreed to a
Season 10.
