Clairol is a company that does cruel, hideous, unecessary tests on animals. Examples of these worthless tests are the eye irritancy tests (dropping toxic chemicals into the eyes of albino rabbits) and the acute toxicity tests (aka leathal dose and poisoning tests.)

Julia, ask Clairol to put a permanent ban on animal testing. You've got the power and the influence. If they don't respond, please call for a Clairol boycott until they do. You could even donate some of your 7 figure salary from Clairol to the PEOPLE FOR THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS to help make amends.

Okay, here is a way that it can be proved that the writers of Seinfeld respond to feedback from Usenet. If you were a writer on the show, might not you mention to actress Julia this thread? And if so, and if Julia cared about animal testing, she might break her contract w/ Clairol and publicly state that she was informed of this "cruelty" through her writers who peruse Usenet. To me, that would be proof that the writers look at alt.tv.seinfeld.

Of course, if any of the above steps are not fulfilled, then it MIGHT be the case that the writers peruse Usenet, but the evidence then would be inconclusive...

I agree with you, although I don't know if Julia is aware of the unnecessary testing. Julia is a wonderful person and I doubt very much that she would work for anyone who does that. Certainly she would not condone it. But she just recently resigned with Clairol through 1998. Talk to her after that expires.

Nah, I prefer they do the testing on animals instead of human beings. I can picture it now:

Fluffy: "Meeeooowwww" Scientist: "Now, now, Fluffy, you're going to have perfectly permed fur." Fluffy: "Meoooowwww"

At which point Fluffy becomes the spokesperson for Clairol.
