Wasnt there a lost episode?

I was very young at the time but I distinctly remember there being a lost episode of Seinfeld. I remember before they showed it Jerry and George gave a little introduction and explained why it had never been shown before. Im not sure but I think the episode had something to do about a party on long island or something. Does anyone else remember this or am I just crazy?

The was an episode in the 3rd season called The Stranded. It concerned a party on Long Island where George got lucky and STRANDED Jerry & Elaine. (The famous "Dingo Line" by Elaine was in this episode.) The only thing LOST about this episode was Kramer on his way to pick them up.

Why was the "Dingo Line" so famous? (Maybe the dingo ate your baby).

A dingo is a type of kangaroo/dog that is found in Australia. It is a true crime story of a woman that claimed to have had her baby abducted. She claimed that a dingo had stolen her baby, but the police thought otherwise. I can't remember her name, but it's a pretty famous case.

It was Lindy Chamberlain. Meryl Streep sounded just like Lindy in the movie, "Cry in the Dark" and Elaine sounded just like Meryl.

Sorry, but Meryl sounded *nothing* like Lindy! That movie is the only time I've ever heard the very talented Meryl totally stuff up an accent! Sounded more like a cross between South African and New Zealand, with a touch of Cockney... Nothing like Aussie (or Lindy) whatsoever. BUT Elaine did sound just like Meryl.

To answer previous questions on this thread... A dingo is simply a native dog here in Australia.

Lindy Chamberlain was convicted of murdering her baby, Azaria, even though there was no evidence other than general disbelief that a dingo took her baby. After a few years, irrefutable evidence came to light - among other things, the jumpsuit the baby was wearing at the time was found, and it was proven beyond doubt that a dingo really did take the baby. Apparently, some Aboriginals had hidden the jumpsuit for years, for reasons of their own (possibly to protect the dingos from being mercilessly massacred in trying to locate the baby's body). The murder conviction was overturned, and Lindy was paid out a massive compensation.

Lindy *still* turns up in feature stories in our "women's" magazines and current affair TV shows over here, from time to time (unfortunately). The latest being just a couple of weeks ago - her son was engaged to her step-daughter, but they split up.

Wasn't there a Southpark episode that also used the "a dingo took my baby" line? Or maybe I misremembered that too!? :)))

The ep you are referring to is called The Stranded. This ep had been filmed at least a few months before and it was now being shown out of order. I think this is why you got the idea of "the lost episode". I don't know why it was shown out of order. Eps on Seinfeld aren't always shown in the order they were filmed in. In an episode that had been shown at least a few months earlier, called The Revenge, George worked with the same woman he left the party with in The Stranded. In The Revenge he worked with the woman at a real estate office. George got fired from the office. In The Stranded he apparently was working with the same woman at the real estate office. This seems unlikely because he had been fired in The Revenge. How could he still be working with her? So, The Stranded should have been shown first. I heard about what you were talking about and I think Jerry said,"Yeah, we know."

I think I read that Jerry spoke to the audience before the show and said something to the effect of, "We know that you know that George lost his job in a previous episode."

Another "lost" episode may be "The Puerto Rican Day." It's "lost" in that it was only shown once and then shelved because of protests by Puerto Rican groups.

Jerry said : "Just wanted to let you know that we know, you know".

I remember that they once reran the second episode (the first one with Elaine) with an intro by Jerry who may have even been presenting this as 'the pilot'. For some reason I remember it being the week after the first ever showing of the Airplane episode. Am I nuts?
