New viewer finds the show disappointing and not funny, questioning why characters are rude; others defend the humor and character writing.
I am new to this country, and some people told me to watch Seinfeld because it's the best show of them all. Well, I must say that I'm rather disappointed.. it's not that funny, and I don't understand why they all must be that rude. I've been living in NY for a while and I did find people that are like that, but I didn't find it funny.

I agree, Bania is such a worthless empty character that he is indeed funny. If Jerry's entire life revolves around Superman and cereal then Bania's entire life revolves around suits and soup.

One thing you have to understand about Seinfeld is that it is a satire of American life. The show does not translate very well to other cultures and countries outside of the US. The wackey outrageousness of Krammer, George who just can't win at life, Elaine who takes everything to extremes, and Jerry who lives in the middle.
