George and Jerry and High School sports?

n "The Library", George describes the way Mr. Hayman smells by comparing it to the smell of the locker room after the game vs. Erasmus. Jerry then says, "That was double overtime."

George and Jerry played high school basketball???

I definately don't think they played. I think they were merely spectators. Jerry has always enjoyed watching sports. Maybe he just had to go to the bathroom or something in the lockerroom. Or maybe it still smelled the nextday?
