TV universe questions?

In regards to "The Betrayal", many brought up the fact that George and Susan saw MAY while Kramer appeared on the show as Kramer, thus making it all confusing as to who is what, where, when. To add to this (and I don't think it's been brought up yet), Jerry dated a few weeks ago Kim (though her name wasn't Kim on Seinfeld), the evil doctor from Melrose place (interestingly, she played a doctor on Seinfeld). Yet earlier, Jerry admits to WATCHING Melrose (he might have even brought up Kim in his tirade of the show). Do you think he noticed the uncanny likeness the two shared???? Hmmmmm

Yes, I know it's a TV show. I do have a firm grasp in reality. I'm just having fun. No flames, please.

The mistake everyone's making is to assume the "Mad About You" they were watching on Seinfeld is the same "Mad About You" that "we" watch. In the Seinfeld universe, they may have watched a slightly different "Mad About You" that didn't happen to include the episode with Kramer, just as in Seinfeld's universe, there is no TV show called "Seinfeld" (althought there WAS one called "Jerry"). Think of Seinfeld's universe as sort of a parallel universe to ours where certain things are similar or almost the same (such as that there are shows called "Mad About You" and "Melrose Place" with slightly different performers; the NY Yankees are owned by Geo Steinbrenner who hired a guy named Costanza, etc.) but other things are different (instead of Tyson Chicken, the company is called Tyler chicken, etc.). There are just enough similarities to make us identify with and feel comfortable with the show and its characters.
