Hi! This is a reference to a film with Sam Neil and Merryl Streep where they played an Australian minister and his wife who take a camping trip with their infant daughter. While sleeping in a tent a few feet away from where they were visiting with some other campers, the baby disappears. The Merryl Streep character is arrested and tried for murder but all the while maintains that "The Dingo ate my baby", a dingo being some kind of an Australian wild dog. It's supposed to be based on a true story, and it was not a funny movie by any means, but somehow, hearing that line coming out of Elaine's mouth always has me ROFL!!! The writers too, I guess or they wouldn't have put it in there.

Gary Larsen, made fun of the movie too, in a cartoon where he had a daycare center right next door to "Ed's Dingo Farm". The caption was "Trouble Brewing".

It is actually the true story of the Chamberlains (sp?), an Australian family that the movie was written about. Their baby Azaria was taken by a dingo whilst they were on holiday in central Australia. I think both parents went to jail for murder of the child but were later cleared
