J-Lou on "Curb"

This week's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" featured Julia (and her hubby Brad Hall). For the benefit of those who haven't seen the series this year, one of the story arcs involves Larry (somewhat half-heartedly) trying to get a new series on the air. In earlier episodes, he approched Jason Alexander with his pitch for a sitcom: Jason would play an actor who was so popular in a hit TV show that once the show ends, he has trouble finding other acting jobs. When Jason drops out of the project, Larry retools the idea for Julia.

BTW: She looks great. And for those who may be interested, since it's HBO, JLD takes full advantage of the lack of language restrictions (f**k, c**ks**ker). Even with that, she doesn't utter the most offensive word in the episode. (That honor is reserved for the star.....and I'll leave it at that.)

First off, I object to the trashifying of Julia's name in the subject line of this post. Crap like that should be reserved for celebs much higher on the egometer. I would appreciate it if you referred to her by her full name. Or simply JLD or JL-D. Thanks for obliging.

And they have that discussion about what constitutes a meeting. Sounded like a bit from a rejected Seinfeld script.

Actually, that was $247 million. A reference to the half billion he and Jerry split when they sold the show.

And the whole shrimp argument reminded me too much of the "jerk store" episode. In fact, almost everything that happens on CYA, and on Bob Patterson as well for that matter, makes me think it was stolen from Seinfeld. I simply *cannot* watch anything the fab four involve themselves in anymore. I can't. I won't.

All except for Jerry, I can still enjoy his stand-up. I just hope he never decides to do another sitcom.

BTW- the actress who plays Cheryl is GREAT.

I've been kicking myself for not seeing the first CYE special. I hope HBO reruns it.

When will Michael Richards show up? Will Seinfeld ever show up?

The whole HBO-bashing thing reminded me of the way Letterman would bash GE in the 80's.

I think he's mocking people who boycott corperations when in effect it does nothing. Cheryl also boycotts AAA for some reason in an earlier ep.

It's great having the fomer Seinfeld cast on "Curb" playing themselves. I don't like Jason Alexander's new sitcom for exactly this reason. No matter what character he plays he will always be George Costanza. Seinfeld is so ingrained in the conscienceness that the cast will be better off staying retired. Atleast they can recurring roles on Curb.

I wish they would do more episodes of Curb, it only runs for 10 weeks. The adlibed dialogue makes the show realistic. Jeff Garlin and Larry's wife are terrific. I like the fact that Larry doesn't work and lives off his Seinfeld profits. It's the aimless existence and only worrying about where to eat that is so true to someone who has more money than he can ever spend.
